Opportunities to Volunteer

  1. Support the cause by taking and sharing positive photos from events. “Like”, “Follow”, “Subscribe”, “Share!” our information with other people.
  2. Volunteer! Although we are based out of the Oklahoma area we attend events all over the United States. Recently we have traveled as far West to Socorro New Mexico, East to Gettysburg Pennsylvania, and South to San Antonio and Goliad Texas for events.
  3. Contribute in the ways that you feel led both large and small. Sometimes the talents we are gifted with go beyond the “Yankee Dollar” and come in forms of acts of service and gifted items.

Service is an important part of this organization. It is a process that both the individuals giving and receiving can gain and then share knowledge. Our largest hope is that through our varying talents and efforts that history can be preserved. Many things such as camp life, camping, cooking, military drill, tactics, and understanding cannot fit completely on the pages of a book and should, must, be experienced.

The history we live.

Harper’s Weekly NEW YORK, SATURDAY, AUGUST 31, 1861.

Though twice wounded, Lyon replied: “I will lead you; come on, brave men,” and, while gallantly charging at their head, was struck in the breast by a Minie ball, and almost instantly expired.

Biographical Register Officers Graduates U.S. Military Academy West Point, N.Y.: Nos. 1001-2000

The 2nd Infantry Regiment founded as part of the United States Army was constituted on April 12 1808. More than 200 years later this legacy continues remaining an active modern military unit. To keep history alive and honor veterans who served in the American West our members continue to study and teach history. Fearless leaders such as Nathaniel Lyon make history easy to study. In his honor our group focuses on Company B that he served in with an emphasis on the Wilson’s Creek during the U.S. Civil War 1861 – 1865 and Living History for the War with Mexico 1846 & 1847.

“I trust you will agree with me that, to divest ourselves of the prejudices of our Country, to be able to discriminate between right and wrong, and arrive at transcendental truth, are objects worthy of our attention – by which alone we can escape the errors of past ages & render ourselves useful in Society and World. We admit that these objects are in some measure obtained at many of the Literary Institutions of our country, while I humbly assert that the Military Academy possesses a superiority in this respect unparalleled in our world…”,
